HONOURS TO THE HERO

FROM THE XIX CENTURY HAS BEEN PRESERVED THE TRADITION of building victorious arcs with vegetation to evoke, in a symbolic way, the heroic and victorious character of the great images, like the Liberator Simón Bolivar.

In the same way, three laurels planted jut out in the environs of the fountain of lavapatas in the South of the house. The laurel is used to crown the heroes, and those men who fight with all the soul to achieve their ideals, like Apollo did to get the Daphne’s love, who become in laurel in Greek mythology. Bolivar receives a laurel crown in Cuzco on June 21st, 1825 that was perfectly fused and embossed in gold.

The laurel kindness (Laurus nobilis) is represented in its permanent green colour and its eternity, because of its natural ability to regenerate itself. Its life is so long, that planting a laurel was considered by the Spanish crown, an act of territoriality and foundation in the colonial time.
