SEEDING FUTURE

DRAWINGS and ENGRAVINGS THAT REPRESENT the BOGOTÁ Of THE XIX CENTURY show the Eastern hills of the city completely deforested and the great environmental deterioration, result of 300 years of operation of the forests of piedemonte for construction and baking of roofing tiles, bricks and food of the city, as it represents the engraving of the Vista of Bogotá de Ackermann, in the Collection of the Villa of Bolivar.

The pattern of environmental handling imposed by the Spaniards, characterized itself by the monoculture and the elimination of the forest for establishment of prairies for cattle ranch. In works of artists of half-full of century XIX, one is the Villa with his characteristic green plume of the glasses of the trees; in the middle of the garden already the cypresses and the laurels had been planted that by its slow growth, they symbolize the confidence of that plants, in the benefit that the future generations will obtain from this type of sowings.

During century XX wax palms were seeded and a cedar likes the tree of the brotherhood (1946). The value of seeding, of gliding, of structuring thinking about the future is another one of the characteristics of this garden that we wished to stand out like an important value of the cultural actions.
