BEAUTIES OF THE GARDEN

The COLOR OF THE FLOWERS AS WELL AS ITS SCENT AND ITS SHAPES, ARE THE elements that adorn a garden. Some of species of flowers appreciated and planted in the XIX Century still continue embellishing La Quinta, like roses, camellias that surprise because of their beauty without fragrance, violets, the fragrant wallflowers, irises which evokes the blazons and the nobility of the lily flower, daisies, geraniums, novios, fuchsias that seem like ballerinas, pansies that look us in a mysterious way, German madworts that carpet the lowest with blue stars, orchids and dahlias. And continuing the tradition appeared Abutilones, Hummingbirds´ dish, impatient o bella helenas, verbenas, cartuchos, lilies, ornamental frailejones with its flowers fuchsia colour, pichonas, angel wings and mombresias with strong orange colour, clover, coralitos, hemerocaliz, little lights, susanitas and jasmines.

Jorge Bayona Posada cites to an American traveller who visited Santafé towards 1826 that "was in La Quinta and was attracted by the flowers that formed furrows with the words BOYACÁ, CARABOBO and LIBERTADOR".
