THE ANDEAN FOREST

MANY NATIVE SPECIES HAVE THEIR lives cycle protected by the walls of La Quinta. They still adorn and recreate the heterogeneous and rich environment of the Andean forest, disappeared of the surroundings a long time ago.

The catholic priests having the support of Spanish law destroyed all the walnuts between Bogotá and Tunja, trying to get rid of the veneration that these trees inspired to the muíscas.

Nowadays we can see at La Quinta, together with the cedars and sangregados that are embraced by bromelias or quiches, the bear hands, trompetos with their mochilas (kind of bag) of green fruits, raques that in their florescence fills the stone roads with its pink petals, palmas bayonetas (bayonet palms), myrtles, cordoncillos, arbolocos with his hollow stem and its route towards sky, chuzques, borracheros with his flowers like bells with three colours, thorny coronos and cañabravas, as well as many ferns, remembering us the original forest that also protects an invisible universe full insects and birds.
